after all the gushing over obama's inauguration, it was good to see that the daily show back to its old tricks
there was a fear that with obama in the white house, satire would die
not in this case, however. stewart and co have the will to look at the things they believe in with the same scrutiny that they used on the old administration
it may be a cliche, but i get a lot of my american news from the daily show
and if i miss an episode?

At last, someone else who loves the Daily Show. Throughout the election Obama was generally spared the daily (totally warranted) shredding McCain and Palin received. Even now I think Obama is affectionately ribbed by the Daily Show rather than crucified.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I did see moves in the opposite direction this week when they contrasted Obama's inauguration speech with those of Bush's demonstrating they run along pretty much the same lines. A definitely uncomfortable moment for all of us shedding a tear at Obama's rhetorical skills. Here's to the new boss, just the same as the old boss?
i loved last night's gitmo segment
ReplyDeletei agree that stewart's mocking of obama is more affectionate than vicious, it reminds me of the way kings used to keep a jester around to remind the king that he was mortal
i was surprised by the similarity between obama's rhetoric and bush's, but remember, despite their political differences they are both american so their core values are likly to be the same
